Pal-O-Mine's Volunteer Staff

The services provided by volunteers are essential to the success of all our endeavors. Often three individuals will be needed to assist a riding instructor with a lesson. A leader will walk in front guiding the horse, while sidewalkers will be stationed on either side to ensure the safety of the rider with disabilities. Many clients also need the help of several volunteers simply to mount a horse from the ramp.

Care for Our Horses
Horses also need attention and care. They must be fed, groomed, and exercised regularly, and volunteers help with such activities. In fact Pal-O-Mine volunteers are given extensive training in equine related matters, from mucking stalls to helping our NAHRA (North American Handicapped Riding Association) certified instructors.

Behind the Scenes
While the mission of Pal-O-Mine is to provide therapeutic riding to those with disabilities, much essential work is performed behind the scenes by our volunteer force. Answering the phone, preparing mailing lists, helping organize special events, fundraising, all fall within the purview of volunteers. Our volunteer organization is currently one hundred twenty five strong and growing rapidly.
