On Saturday, September 20th, 2025, Legislator Leslie Kennedy attended Pal-O-Mine Equestrian’s 30th anniversary in Islandia. The event hosted over 300 supporters, other elected officials, volunteers and staff members of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian. Horses trotted, galloped and strutted their way around the facility while equestrians demonstrated their skills to the spectators.

Despite being just outside the boundaries of the twelfth legislative district, Kennedy is a frequent collaborator of Pal-O-Mine due to the work that Pal-O-Mine does with constituents and organizations in the twelfth district. “I love working with Pal-O-Mine. They do a lot of good work for the community in terms of collaborating with veterans and promoting community-improving causes,” said Legislator Kennedy.

Among these programs is Fall-In-Friday, which is a weekly no-cost program where veterans and first responders learn unmounted horsemanship skills, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, led by professionals trained in military and first responder cultures.Legislator Kennedy-Leslie Pal-o-mine-30th photo

“We were honored that Legislator Kennedy joined us at our 30th anniversary celebration,” said Lisa A. Gatti, Founder and CEO of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian. The nonprofit provides a comprehensive therapeutic equine program to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, veterans, first responders and many others. “As the daughter of a Marine who served our country proudly, Legislator Kennedy is a true champion for veterans, and we are grateful for her long-time support of our mission to make a life-changing difference for veterans and others through the power of horses.”

Pal-O-Mine is dedicated to providing services for our veterans and first responders, and the nonprofit will be the host organization for VetFest on October 19th. At this free event, veterans and their families will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from over 40 veterans’ resource groups.
