Islandia, NY — The New York Claim Association (NYCA) has once again turned its annual golf outing into an opportunity to give back to the Long Island community. Following its July 20th golf outing, NYCA presented Pal-O-Mine Equestrian with a $5,000 donation to support the nonprofit’s Summer Work Study Program.
The annual contribution reflects NYCA’s longstanding commitment to Pal-O-Mine, a nonprofit that provides comprehensive equine-assisted therapeutic programs that utilize the special bond between humans and horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, veterans, first responders, at-risk youth, individuals with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, survivors of trauma and many others.
Pal-O-Mine’s Summer Work Study Program provides young people with the opportunity to develop workplace skills in a supportive, hands-on environment. Participants take on responsibilities around Pal-O-Mine’s 13-acre farm, gaining experience with animal care, horticulture, grounds maintenance and other aspects of the organization’s daily operations.
Through structured work experiences, participants build responsibility, communication skills, confidence and a greater sense of independence while working alongside Pal-O-Mine staff and volunteers.
“Pal-O-Mine is especially near and dear to NYCA because members of our own board and their families have personally experienced the impact of its programs,” said Matthew Jones, President Emeritus of the New York Claim Association. “That makes supporting their work incredibly meaningful to us, and we’re proud to help create opportunities for young people to build confidence, learn real skills and gain greater independence.”
“Pal-O-Mine is deeply grateful to the New York Claim Association for continuing to make us part of its annual tradition of giving,” said Lisa Gatti, Founder and CEO of Pal-O-Mine. “Their support of our Summer Work Study Program gives young people the opportunity to discover what they are capable of, take on real responsibilities and experience the pride that comes from doing meaningful work. We are incredibly thankful for their continued belief in our mission and in the young people we serve with this program.”
