Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, which provides comprehensive therapeutic equine programs to children with disabilities and many others, was the grateful beneficiary of the hard work and good heart of Smithtown teen Ryan Garrity, who built a safe, accessible play area at the nonprofit’s 13-acre farm as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Now, clients who take part in therapeutic services at Pal-O-Mine will have a lovely outdoor area to enjoy before their appointments, and it will also offer families a welcome opportunity to have fun in a beautiful and peaceful spot while they wait for their loved ones to finish their sessions.
“Ryan’s generosity is a family tradition, as his brother Jack also completed his Eagle Scout project at Pal-O-Mine,” said Lisa A. Gatti, Founder and CEO of the Islandia-based organization, now in its 30th year. “They are shining examples of how young people in our local community are stepping up for others.”

About Pal-O-Mine Equestrian:

Now celebrating its 30th year, Pal-O-Mine Equestrian began in 1995 as a therapeutic horseback riding program for individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable populations. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive therapeutic equine program to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, survivors of trauma, veterans, first responders, individuals on the autism spectrum and many others. Each week, more than 400 students attend one of the many programs offered at the 13-acre Islandia, NY, campus, which is home to 25 specially trained horses and a therapeutic horticulture program that serves as a vocational internship site for people with disabilities.
