Islandia, NY – Pal-O-Mine Equestrian is pleased to announce a $4,500 grant from the Theresa Foundation in support of Music and Minis, a new expressive arts program combining music, movement and interaction with miniature horses to support emotional expression and sensory engagement for children ages 6 to 12.

The Theresa Foundation grant will allow Pal-O-Mine to purchase musical instruments and other supplies that will give children the opportunity to explore rhythm, movement, singing and joy through guided activities led by a music educator and Pal-O-Mine’s trained equine specialists. Using accessible instruments such as drums, shakers and hand percussion, participants will make music alongside Pal-O-Mine’s miniature horses, who will serve as calm, grounding companions.

Music and Minis, which will take place on Pal-O-Mine’s 13-acre farm in Islandia, will provide a structured yet flexible environment for all children, with particular benefits for those with developmental disabilities or sensory processing challenges.“Music and horses each have a unique way of connecting with children and helping them feel comfortable being themselves,” said Lisa Gatti, Founder and CEO of Pal-O-Mine, a nonprofit that provides equine-assisted therapeutic programs to children and adults with disabilities, veterans, first responders, survivors of trauma, individuals with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, and many others. “Music and Minis will create a space where children can freely explore, move and express themselves without a right or wrong way to participate. We are incredibly grateful to the Theresa Foundation for helping us bring this innovative program to life and making creative experiences accessible to more children.”
“We are proud to support Pal-O-Mine and its innovative Music and Minis program,” said Elizabeth Einhart, Vice President and Executive Director at the Theresa Foundation, based in Long Beach, NY.

“By bringing together music and the calming presence of miniature horses, the program gives children a unique opportunity to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and express themselves creatively in a supportive environment. Pal-O-Mine has long used the connection between people and horses to promote growth, learning and healing, and we are pleased that this $4,500 grant will help expand that work in a creative new way.”
