J-STEP Vocational Program

Job Security Through Equine Partnership

The major focus of the J-STEP (Job Security Through Equine Partnership) program is to provide meaningful employment opportunities to adults with disabilities who have transitioned out of high school. J-STEP is an evidenced based vocational training center where young adults are interviewed to be chosen for a paid internship. Interns gain valuable job readiness skills such as professionalism, teamwork, time management and problem solving. Executive functioning skills are honed. Areas of assessment include: employment readiness, editorial skills, custodial/maintenance, nutrition, horticulture, and entrepreneurial skills. J-STEP runs a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) three seasons of the year, as well as partnering with Long Island stores/boutiques to sell their products.
